Co-hosted by the Busan Metropolitan Government and the Busan Festival Organizing Committee, the “2025 Seven Bridges Cycling Rally: Riding in Busan” officially made its grand debut to widespread public attention. Recognized as the world’s largest urban ocean-bridge cycling festival, the event attracted over 3,000 riders from Korea and around the world, showcasing the dynamic energy and magnificent coastal identity of Busan as a true “maritime city.”
The highlight of the event was its world-first course design — a spectacular circular route connecting seven ocean bridges and tunnels into one continuous riding experience. Cyclists rode between the city skyline and the open sea, immersing themselves in an unprecedented blend of movement, scenery, and urban spectacle.

The event featured two official routes. The “77 Course,” spanning 77 kilometers, was designed for advanced riders seeking a greater challenge. Starting from the BEXCO Convention Center, participants crossed Gwangan Bridge, Busan Harbor Bridge, Namhang Bridge, and Eulsukdo Bridge before passing through Cheonma Tunnel and Jangpyeong Undersea Tunnel, reaching Maekdo Ecological Park before returning along the same route.
Meanwhile, the “33 Course,” a 33-kilometer route aimed at beginner and intermediate cyclists, used Cheonma Tunnel as its turning point. The rare combination of riding against the ocean wind atop massive sea bridges while experiencing high-speed momentum through underground tunnels made the Seven Bridges Cycling Rally a truly one-of-a-kind event in the global cycling community.
Centered around the themes of health, sustainability, and carbon reduction, the organizers hope to encourage more citizens to explore the city through low-carbon transportation while allowing visitors to experience the appeal of eco-friendly tourism.
Residents and tourists gathered along the route to cheer on the riders, creating an electric atmosphere throughout the city. From the cheers echoing across the bridges, to the reverberating sounds inside the tunnels, and the striking moments when cyclists rode alongside ships crossing Busan’s harbor bridges, every scene reflected a powerful harmony between sport, urban life, and nature.
In his opening remarks, Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon emphasized:
“The Seven Bridges do not simply connect roads — they connect people and the city, health and nature. Moving forward, Busan will continue promoting green transportation and international exchange, making this event an important symbol of Busan’s place on the global stage.”

Through this grand cycling event, Busan demonstrated to the world the possibilities of low-carbon mobility. But for every rider, this was more than just a one-day experience — it represented a sustainable lifestyle choice that can continue long after the event ends.
With every pedal stroke and every turn of the wheel, we are not simply moving forward; we are redefining our relationship with the city and with the environment in our own way.
Sustainability should not exist for just one day of the year.
When cycling becomes part of everyday life, every day becomes Earth Day.
